Beauty Highlights from The 2021 Oscars

Year after year, we see celebrities at the Oscars always bringing their A-game when it comes to their red carpet looks. After all, it is Hollywood’s most anticipated night! We’re all expecting glitz and glamour. So, it’s no surprise that this year’s 93rd Academy Awards had us all writing down beauty inspiration. From dark lips to natural makeup looks, this year had it all.

Even though we won’t be walking down the red carpet anytime soon, here are my favorite looks from the 2021 Oscars that you might want to try!

Purple Eyeliner

Probably one of the most unforgettable looks on the carpet was H.E.R’s outstanding purple outfit inspired by Prince and his 1985 Oscars look. Alongside her sparkly jumpsuit, H.E.R’s vibrant eyeshadow completed her look seamlessly.

A simple, yet stunning two-toned, ombré purple eye. Blended to perfection, this thick eyeliner look transitions into a lighter shade of purple towards her crease and finished with a flicked wing. It’s vibrant, fun and creates a sense of dimension as it contours her eyes. All you need are 2 different shades of purple. The best part is if you think you’ve messed up during the application, blend it out! A quick and easy fix to save any ombré look. Plus, purple looks incredibly flattering on all skin tones.

Dark Lips

I was super excited to see so many celebrities rocking the vampy, deep red lipstick. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who went through a dark lip phase, but it looks like it’s making a comeback! Stars such as Vanessa Kirby, Amanda Seyfried, and Maria Bakalova were all seen with a fierce, statement pout. It’s daring, dramatic, and memorable, which is why it’s on my radar! Adding a dark lip is such an easy way to add a pop of color to any outfit or minimalistic makeup look. Turns out that darker lipstick shades aren’t just for the winter.

As suspected, no red carpet event is complete without a few smokey eye looks and a sprinkle of glitter. To name a few, this year we saw Emerald Fennell, Angela Bassett, and Glenn Close stand out with this timeless eyelid look. This year’s Oscars showcased how versatile the smokey eye look can be, ranging from a handful of different colors. We had purple, blue, black, and even brown smokey eyes at this event!

It’s striking and playful no matter what age you are. Time to grab your favorite eyeshadow palette and blending brush, looks as though smokey eyes are here to stay.

No Makeup Look

Last but certainly not least, the makeup look that we all aspire to perfect; the iconic “No Makeup Look”. Natural glam meets enhancing your features and complexion; that’s the vibe we want. I never get tired of seeing this look as it’s something that we can all try to recreate. It’s refreshing and elegant.

Actresses Margot Robbie and Carey Mulligan stood out to me as they nailed the whole “No Makeup Look”. As we all know, this particular look is all out the idea of “your skin but better”. They both had a minimalistic base accompanied by a natural-looking flush. Their rosy-cheeked glow added a bit of color and vibrancy to their skin. I loved it! Let’s not forget how flattering their natural shadows were. That soft, barely-there color added such a lovely brightening effect to their eyelids. Paired with a beautiful lip shade to compliment their skin tone. Finally, the cherry on top to complete the look, a couple of coats of mascara. Who doesn’t love natural-looking curled lashes? I’m obsessed!
