Eco-Friendly Lifestyle: Is It For You?

Are you one of those who always try to keep a few cotton bags or other eco-friendly material shopping bags in your trunk and say a big ‘NO’ to plastic ones, even somehow obsessed with separating the plastic bottles in a different bag to take to the recycling station? Whether or not you fall in this category, it is important to keep in mind that as human beings, it is our responsibility to take care of this beautiful planet that was given to us by God so we can dwell happily and safely on it.

What is an eco-friendly lifestyle?

Eco-friendly refers to special types of products and services that can minimize or zero harm to the environment. The green lifestyle helps to minimize global warming and deforestation and protects Mother Earth from natural disasters. To live an eco-friendly life, we should follow the three R Principles: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

It leads to a healthier life: consuming chemical-free food products and cleaning material, might be a bit costly or against your current lifestyle, but due to the positive impact of these goods on your health it is worth trying. Plus, going green means eating more fruits and vegetables than meat and you can even grow your own food at home (outdoor or indoor via a hydroponic system). Above all, in this kind of lifestyle, there is no place for junk foods, so you really can experience a healthier life.

Minimize environmental pollution: One of the most important benefits of going green is reducing environmental pollution. Plastics are the leading pollutants in the environment and had already damaged the ozone layer and produced a lot of issues for our planet. Phasing out plastics waste and recycling them, can help a lot in reducing pollution.

It is actually energy bill friendly: Saving water and electricity is not only an eco-friendly action but also is pocket-friendly. Using LED light bulbs, insulating the house, switching off the TV and receivers can reduce the energy bills significantly.

Helps to enjoy the surroundings: To help the environment, you can switch your traveling by plane to land adventure such as camping, and hiking in your surrounding area or maybe a bit farther than your place.

It is economical: When you choose to live green, you decide to use public transportation, or a bicycle or scooter for going to work, shopping, etc. In this case, you succeed in achieving two things: saving the earth and saving your money ( not paying for fuel).

The answer is Yes! An eco-friendly lifestyle is for you and me and the entire nation. If at some point, you could not avoid eating meat or it is not physically affordable for you or even growing your own vegetables seems impossible due to lack of enough space, there are many other easy ways to be kind to the environment and protect it.

Above all, as an individual who chose a green lifestyle do not underestimate your positive impact in encouraging others to “go green” as well. When your friends, colleagues or your family see the wonderful result of your healthy lifestyle, they’ll follow your example—even if some don’t take it seriously at the beginning—but then, slowly they will learn how to live with it if you show them how. So, do not hesitate to start from now and spread the word about the importance of being eco-friendly in everything we do. It will inspire and motivate others especially our children, who are the builders of the future.
