Hello? The 90s called. They want their bad bitch back. Alright, I’m kidding. But seriously, name one alternative chick from a cult 90s film that didn’t have you itching for the nearest pair of black eyeliner?
Let’s face the facts. Blondes, as a matter of fact, do not have more fun. Alternative girls do. Who can deny it? What’s more fun than automatically being the main character in virtually every social function?
So whether you’re outright bored of playing the safe side of makeup, or simply wanna look for new tips and tricks into horrifying your prudish family members, we’ve got you covered. Here are five ways to achieve an ‘alt’ look. Sorry, Mom and Dad.
Eyeliner (Lots of it.)

The best part of eyeliner lies in its versatility. One thing is for sure though. If your liner can’t be seen from a 2 mile radius and causes wandering mothers to hide their scared children, go home.
If you’re looking for the precise ‘sharp enough to slice a rock’ type of look, we recommend going thicker than you’d prefer. If however, you’re more of a ‘smoky eye’ kind of girl, we recommend going to town on your lids with some kohl for a more ‘undone’ type of look.
Tail-less brows

Ever wanted to find a way to look both intimidating and hot through your face mask but you just couldn’t figure out how? We’ve got you covered. Not only does this bring out your bone structure, it also creates a piercing gaze.
If you’re not quite convinced to take that leap in plucking off your brow tail, don’t fret. Start by filling in your brows as you usually would, except this time you’re going to outline your brows and form a somewhat straight line. Once you’re done, go in with your trusty concealer and brow brush to create a more distinct tail-less shape. This clean-cut style seems daunting to some but that’s the exciting part, isn’t it?
Undereye Maroon Eyeshadow

The key to a grungy look is by essentially throwing all the rules out the window. This is especially true when it comes to this look. A great way to figure out which range of intensity you prefer is by using a subtle maroon eyeshadow to halo around your eyes and slowly working to intensify the hue.
Faux Face Tattoos

We get it. Actual face tattoos are terrifying, which is why this little life hack does wonders! The best part? All you need is your handy waterproof liquid eyeliner and your imagination. (Hint: check out ‘stick and poke’ tattoo templates for some inspiration!)
Smudged lipstick

Say goodbye to the harshly lined lips of yesterday. Say hello to a new effortlessly ‘undone’ lipstick trend that’s taking over! Not only does this provide a sultry aesthetic of a puffy lip, it’s also insanely convenient.
Start by placing your desired lipstick (we recommend berry and deep wine tones) onto the center of your lip. Then begin to blend outwards, making sure a modicum size narrowly rests outside your lips for a blurred, bitten effect.
Another way this could work is by finding a powder of the similar shade to your lipstick
and lightly brushing it around your lips as a substitute for lip liner.
