How Your Phone Can Actually Elevate Your Skincare & Makeup

The year is 2021. What’s the one thing you never leave the house without picking up? 3, 2, 1 – That’s right! Our phones. We’re in a digital age where there is an app for everything. There are even apps to help us with our skincare! Whether you’re looking for skincare products with safer ingredients or a reminder to apply SPF, I’m here to help!

Keep scrolling to find my top picks for fantastic skincare apps to elevate your routine.

Cloe: “Your all-in-one skin care diary for tracking your skin.”

Cloe is the perfect app if you’re looking for a skincare diary. It’s all in the palm of your hands; there’s no need to buy an extra notebook! Super handy. The app provides an easy way of logging your details like the products you’re using (both skincare and makeup), your water intake and even track your sleep. You can even track your stress levels! All your entries are organized in a daily calendar, making it very clear to read and understand as well.

My favourite feature about this app is how you can upload progress photos and updates of your skin journey and see your progress over time. For ease, it is ideal to have those pictures all in one place.

On Cloe, you can also input your morning and evening skincare routine. This feature could be super helpful to remember what order you should be applying your skincare. I often get mixed up and have to double-check what the correct order is! This app is free and available on both the App Store and Google Play.

Think Dirty

Think Dirty is an app that I wish I discovered earlier! It has a database of over 3,550 brands and 1.9 million products. If your New Year’s resolution was to shop more consciously and think about the ingredients you’re putting on your face, then you need this app.

All you have to do is use your camera to scan the barcode of your products and you’ll be met with the “Dirty Meter”. This report will give you vital information about the ingredients within the product and their impact on your health. It’ll also give the product a rating from 0-10 and break down exactly why the ingredients are damaging for you. Another cool feature of this app is how it’ll offer suggestions for alternatives to the products you have scanned, which have cleaner ingredients according to the “Dirty Meter”.

This app is a brilliant way of helping you revamp your skincare routine. Think Dirty can help rescue you from buying products with potentially harmful and contain “dirty” ingredients. It’s free, easy to use and available for download on the App Store and Google Play. Not going to lie; the second I downloaded it, I had way too much fun scanning most of my skincare products. Trust me, you’ll become tempted to do the same .

UVLENS

When I imagined what the future would look like, I definitely didn’t imagine there being an app to tell you when you’re most likely to burn, according to the levels of UV. Sounds crazy but incredibly helpful, doesn’t it?

UVLENS is connected to the Weather app on your phone to tell you the daily forecast and when you should be applying sunscreen. In order to have happy and healthy skin, we’ve got to protect it from the sun’s UV rays. This app can help you plan out your day outside as you’ll know when the UV rays are the worst. UVLENS will become my best friend in the Summer months.

Of course we all know that it’s essential to reapply your sunscreen but I know it’s so easy for it to slip your mind. Especially if you’re out enjoying the sun and having a great time. However, UVLENS now makes it impossible for us to forget as one of its features is a regular reminder to apply SPF. My favourite part about this feature is how the reminder is dependent on the factor of your SPF. The future is well and truly here!

If you’re looking for a free and helpful app to become a little bit more consistent when reapplying sunscreen, UVLENS is for you. This is one app you’ll definitely have notifications on for!
