The end of the year always brings great excitement, and why wouldn’t it? Before the world gears up for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve, the globally spread out south-Asian community following Hindu traditions get us all excited for Diwali- The “festival of lights.”  

The ones celebrating brighten their homes with lit-up candles and diyas (traditional oil lamps), spreading peace and joy around. Some also go all extravagant with ‘all-nighter’ card parties, karaoke nights, lighting up sprinklers instead of fire-crackers to be more mindful of animals, and never-ending delicious spreads of special home-cooked meals and sweets.

Like every other festival, Diwali is the perfect excuse to go all out and dress up in the fanciest of traditional clothes.
