Happy new year, everyone! Normally every new year, we say ‘new year, new me,’ but it is also important to revisit the highlights of the previous year to see what happened and how it has impacted us and how it will continue to do so.
The year 2021 was a great restart for fashion, especially after the lousy year that was 2020. We saw events happening again, new trends gaining popularity, and celebrities walking the red carpet again.
Here are five events that made 2021 a memorable year fashion-wise:
The Presidential Inauguration – In January 2021, Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th President of the United States of America. The inauguration ceremony saw many celebrities and politicians looking their absolute best. The theme for the event was monochromatic outfits, and it made us realize that there is nothing more classy than a well-fitted monochromatic outfit.
The Cannes Film Festival – The Cannes Film Festival is an annual film festival that showcases upcoming films of all genres in the beautiful French city of Cannes. In 2021, the festival was held in July, and we saw some breathtaking looks during the event. Bella Hadid managed to cause some stir online with her Schiaparelli gown with body jewelry in the shapes of lungs and capillaries. The look is still referenced, and it helped set up Bella Hadid as a fashion icon.
The Met Gala 2021 – You cannot have a list of memorable fashion events and not include the iconic Met Gala 2021. Met Gala 2021 took place in September after two years because of COVID-19. The theme for the year was ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.’ Celebrities and A-listers looked fantastic, honoring the theme, and it was great entertainment for fashion enthusiasts worldwide.
Fashion Weeks – Without fashion weeks, the year wouldn’t seem complete. In 2021, fashion weeks were held in New York, Paris, London, Milan, and Tokyo. Fashion week was very different this year as compared to last year because it was held virtually in 2020. In 2021, designers showcased their new collections in person, and we could truly enjoy the magic of fashion weeks.
