A walk down the red carpet with Hollywood’s fashion poster boy
Menswear fashion icon, a full set of curls and a name as intimidating to read as it is to pronounce, we’re of course talking about none other than Timothée Chalamet. With his rise to stardom in the 2017 coming-to-age drama Call Me by Your Name, the French American actor took the red carpet and ran with it, taking the world of fashion underarm. With less than a week away from the MET Gala we’re taking a walk down memory lane to look back on the times the 25-year-old stole the spotlight with his red-carpet showings.
Flower Power

Rewind to the autumn of 2018, a fresh-faced Chalamet strolled down the red carpet at the London premiere armed with his latest work, Beautiful Boy. His armorer, none other than Alexander McQueen. Donning the floral print suit, coupled with a black V-neck tee, the Hollywood rising star won over the crowd at Leicester Square with this daring ensemble. We loved the red-on-black coupled with a pair of slick black boots. It’s a winner.
Class Act

Moving on to the year that officially (at least for us that is) reserved Timothée Chalamet’s membership into the best-dressed club, our first pick of 2019 comes from the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Now it’s hard to go wrong with an all-black attire but this look is more than the sum of its parts. The sleek black blazer along with the untucked white-on-black polka dot shirt is laid-back as much as it is studied. But scratch that, it’s the lower half that knocks everything out of the water, so to speak. The American actor opted for these slim leather trousers from designer Hedi Slimane, putting the “rock and roll”, in an otherwise prim and proper get-up.
Satin Splendour

When I think satin, I think curtains. Not designer Haider Ackermann however. The man who is no stranger to dressing our young American star made it the bedrock of this ingenious suit worn on the night of the 76th edition of the Venice Film Festival. Ackermann must have thought of curtains too because he tied back the outfit with an elegant sash drawing down the silhouette and with it, the curtains to a fashion masterclass. Bravo!
Magnificent Magenta

Okay, okay. You got us, we’re jacket obsessed and it’s hard not to be. Chalamet did it again, only monochromatic this time around. Suits come in many shapes, sizes, and colors. The magenta suit, by Stella McCartney, was definitely not what we were expecting. And it would not be “Sweet Tea” if he didn’t match them with a pair of laceless boots for good measure. Buttoned down for a bit casual, Chalamet gives a subtle “merci” to his French upbringing with the miniature Eiffel Tower keychain at his fingers.
Still got it

Hitting fast forward to this year’s 74th annual Cannes Film Festival, Chalamet greeted his French fans once again with his appearance alongside Tilda Swinton. Rocking the glitzy metallic suit by Tom Ford, swapping out his usual black Chelsea for the white with minimal amounts of bling so as to avoid an SNL rerun (we see you Tim), it’s not hard to see why Hollywood’s best dressed is here to stay.
