I know we all want a radiant complexion, but I hate to break it to you, it’s not something that will magically happen overnight. Just keeping it real! We’ve got to work for it. Sometimes we’ve got to change our lifestyle habits and even add particular products into our skincare routine to help improve our skin. These little adjustments will be incredibly worth it in the long run. You’ve just got to be patient. I’m going to share with you my top 10 beauty tricks that’ll give you the luminous skin you’ve always been dreaming about! Here’s to healthier, happier, and dewy skin!
Cleanse Daily
Washing your face with a gentle and hydrating cleanser is the base step to stunning skin. Cleansing your face will help remove all the oil, dirt, and particles that have been on your skin throughout the day. Those factors can cause clogged pores and dullness. Sounds horrific, right? The exact opposite of what we want. Not only is this a vital step to healthy-looking skin, but it’s also easy to incorporate into your skincare routine in the morning and night. It’s super important to note that you should be using a cleanser that’s suitable for your skin type. Plus, don’t forget that harsh cleansers can often do more bad than good. They can strip your skin of its natural oils, resulting in irritated and dry skin.
Exfoliate
Exfoliating is such a great way to brighten your skin and get rid of those nasty dead skin cells that have built up on your skin’s surface. Your skin will be healthy and smoother thanks to this deeper clean, eliminating clogged pores. It will also help your other skincare products like serums and moisturizers soak deeper into your skin, making them more effective! Gentle exfoliation can even help to improve your skin tone and boost hydration. I’d recommend exfoliating at least once or twice a week. That’s plenty! Keep in mind that over-exfoliating also has its cons like peeling, redness, and sometimes even acne.
Vitamin C
Incorporating a Vitamin C moisturizer or serum is a simple way of adding an antioxidant into your routine. This star ingredient can enhance your complexion as it can help even your skin tone and lighten dark spots. It’s like a glowing potion for your skin! I love it.
With daily application, you’ll be able to see results within a couple of weeks or even months. Remember that everyone’s skin is different! I often apply a few drops to my face and neck once I’ve finished cleansing and toning. Definitely before my moisturizer!
Since it’s an antioxidant, applying it in your morning routine will often lead to the best results. This magic in a bottle can protect your skin from factors you’re exposing yourself to during the day. Like UV light and pollution! I would not skip out on this step if you’re looking to achieve brighter skin.
Keep your skin moisturized
You know that feeling when you’re dehydrated where your lips and mouth feel dry? Imagine that is what your skin is going through when you don’t moisturize! Moisturizer helps infuse and replenish your skin with hydration. A good moisturizer is packed with ingredients that will help rehydrate your skin barrier and prevent your skin from being flaky. Lack of hydration can emphasize the appearance of wrinkles, causing your skin to look dull. It’s easily absorbed and creates a beautiful dewy finish to your skin without looking oily.
Use Face Masks
Face masks are an instant pick-me-up for your complexion. Regardless of what your skin is going through, I guarantee there is a mask to help rescue your skin. There are so many different kinds. From charcoal to detox, even brightening masks, they’ll rapidly prep your face for a big event, leaving your skin looking smoother and fresh.
I love how easy face masks are to pop on and enjoy all of their fantastic benefits. It makes me feel like I’m at the spa! Most face masks include only the best ingredients for your face and specific skin type or concern.
With plenty of variety to choose from, you can also alternate between sheet masks and clay masks throughout the week for the best results and effect. Time to unwind, apply a face mask, and let it do its magic!
SPF, SPF & more SPF
Put a finger down if you often forget to apply sunscreen before leaving the house? I’m guilty of this! I’m always in such a rush. However, finally, at the ripe age of 23, I have learned that I need to do better! I’m sure when you think of sunscreen, you imagine applying it on when you are at
the beach or by the pool. As much as this is correct, you should be applying sunscreen every day, no matter what season it is. SPF not only prevents sun spots, skin cancer, and wrinkles, it also helps to prevent your skin from losing its elasticity.
I’d highly recommended an SPF that’s 30+. It’ll help promote skin hydration when applied on bare skin and even underneath your makeup. One step closer to preventing sun damage and fine lines.
TOP TIP: Make sure that any skin exposed to the sun is covered and protected with sunscreen. I tend to forget to apply SPF to my ears and neck. (Don’t be like me!)
Eye Cream
I hate to break it to you bestie, but, we have to talk about it. Our 3 worst nightmares. Dark circles, puffiness, and wrinkles. The first few signs of aging. That’s why it’s no surprise that I’ve included a good eye cream in my top 10 beauty tricks. Regularly using an eye cream in your routine will help reduce these issues. Plus, it’ll even help brighten up your eye area.
The big question on everyone’s mind is always wondering when you should start utilizing an eye cream. I think as soon as you’re in your 20’s. There’s no harm in starting early, if anything your eyes will be more dazzling. They do say the best results often are from early prevention!
Take Off Your Makeup
I’m sure you’ve heard this a thousand times but never sleep with your makeup on. You’ve got to remove it! I didn’t know this but, whilst you sleep, your makeup often gets pushed deeper into your pores? Leaving your makeup on can lead to fine lines, breakouts, and dehydrated skin. Even worse, all this could leave your complexion looking dull, accompanied by clogged pores! And what do clogged pores lead to? Red, irritated skin. In the long run, it’s not worth it.
Using a gentle makeup cleanser to remove your makeup can try to prevent this skin damage. I love using Micellar Cleansing water. It’s my go-to. I completely understand we all get sapped after a long day out, but if you’re looking to get glowing skin, you’ve got to take your makeup off. This beauty trick can make a difference!
Beauty Sleep
On a real note- how clear was Princess Aurora’s skin from “Sleeping Beauty”? It was unbelievably clear. There is plenty of actual scientific evidence as to why getting at At least 8 hours of sleep is great for your skin, but we can’t ignore the facts about Aurora’s skin.
Did you know that when you are asleep, your skin rebuilds and repairs itself? This is another easy trick to dewy skin, plus, it’ll also beneficial for your physical and mental health. Maybe you’ll reconsider those late 3am’s you spend scrolling on TikTok. If that sounds super specific, don’t worry, you’re not alone. That’s the story of my life.
Drink Plenty of Water
Staying hydrated is probably one of the easiest ways to try and achieve glowing skin. You need to make sure your body is healthy and hydrated. They recommend that you should be drinking at least 8 cups of water a day. When you think about it, that’s not a crazy amount to drink in a day. You can do it! Think of how gorgeous and hydrated your skin will be. You’ll be waving goodbye to flaky skin. It’s such a well-known radiance-boosting trick that we often tend to forget. You could even add a few fruits like lemon or strawberries into your water for a bit of fruity flavor!
