Miley Cyrus Brings Rockstar Edge To Golden Globes Glam Game

If there’s one lesson Hannah Montana taught us, it’s that hair is a mighty tool for reinvention-and nobody knows that better than Miley Cyrus. Who could forget her edgy pixie buzzcut debut back in 2013? Or her big, ’70s-blowout hair at the 2024 Grammys? Cut to the 2025 Golden Globes tonight, where Best Original Song nominee Cyrus for The Last Showgirl revealed another show-stopping transformation.

This time, the actress wore the chic of a rockstar: think a messy bun accented with highlights and sharp, blunt bangs in contrasting shades. Shamelessly straddling the line between chaos and polish, hers was a look for the modern ’90s Pam Anderson via grunge. The edgy updo complemented her daring custom Celine gown-a plunging silhouette with shimmering cutouts-while the signature shades proved the ultimate finishing touch.

Dressed from head to toe in the coolest of I-woke-up-like-this confidence, Cyrus pulled off a look both effortless and avant-garde. According to hairstylist Bob Recine, the hair inspiration came from “Debbie Harry for her iconic edge and Japanese cartoon characters for that playful energy.” The result: a style oozing effortlessly cool in every way-bold sans any hard effort. “We wanted something that complemented the dress but didn’t feel overly styled,” he said. “She wanted to look cool, chic-no jewels, just with sunglasses, pure confidence exuding from her.”.

From head to toe, Cyrus pulled off a look full of I-woke-up-like-this confidence. According to her longtime hairstylist Bob Recine, the hair was inspired by a mix of Debbie Harry’s iconic edge and the playful energy of Japanese cartoon characters. The result? A style that felt effortlessly cool—bold without trying too hard. “We wanted something that complemented the dress but didn’t feel overly styled,” said Recine. “She wanted to look cool and chic—no jewelry, just sunglasses, pure confidence exuding from her.”

For glam, Cyrus went full-on dramatic with a smoky cat eye that rivaled Amy Winehouse’s best work, paired with a shiny peach lip. He used a liberal dose of XXL Volume Medium Hold Hairspray to set everything in place before she hit the carpet and make sure that sexy, messy confidence lasts all night.
