The Only Shoe You Need This Season: Givenchy’s Sliced Square Ballerina

The ballerina is one of the most classic shoe shapes that Givenchy has reinvented. New from the House’s Fall-Winter 2025 collection, the Sliced Square Ballerina is a modern couture statement rather than just a flat.

The design honors Hubert de Givenchy’s 1950s couture history while drawing inspiration from Sarah Burton’s first ready-to-wear collection for the Maison. Burton’s strategy of cutting vintage cocktail dresses to tiny lengths is replicated in the design of the shoe: the front is cut, creating a clean, architectural profile that seems quite modern.

A flexible strap that runs across the ballerina creates both fashion and function, much like the grosgrain belts that tightened the waistlines of Burton’s gowns. This ring makes a clear distinction between daily wear and luxury detailing by quietly referencing the renowned Givenchy Paris leather brand.

The Sliced Square Ballerina arrives in a palette as versatile as it is luxurious: black, red, and powder patent specchio leather, alongside metallic silver and gold mirror finishes. Whether styled with tailored trousers, a sharp mini dress, or worn off-duty with denim, these flats carry the DNA of couture into daily life.

The Givenchy Sliced Square Ballerina is the season’s must-have accessory; it’s stylish, bold, and completely contemporary. Now available on Givenchy.com and in Givenchy stores across the world.
